And We’re Off!

It’s been far to long since we’ve posted on our blog so we need to get caught up! Between the show, preparing for SGC, and school we’ve all been extremely busy but it has worked out wonderfully! The show was a huge success in helping to send us off to the Southern Graphics Council Conference, which we’ll be taking off for on Tuesday! We cannot thank the Ink Lounge Gallery and Melanie Yazzie enough for their incredible support to our efforts! And of course the immensely talented artists who submitted and who without this would have never been possible!

CUSAS show

CU Student Artists’ Society is hosting an open call, everything hangs show in Painting room 177 in Fleming. The work will be displayed salon-style on the wall and I do believe there will be food and possibly a DJ. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow students and to see their work/ show your. CUSAS is looking for lots of entries, so SUBMIT! Email  studentartistssociety@gmail.com the names and sizes of the pieces you are submitting and drop them off in 177 in the empty office next to Franciose’s or bring the work to the Painting room before 12 on Saturday.

This is an exceptionally easy way to get some experience showing your art, it will be fun, there is free food, and you don’t have to buy any frames!

Ink Lounge – Second Annual Colorado Printmaking Exhibit

This is a little last minute, and I’m sure some of you have heard about this, but I just learned this morning about a call for entries for Colorado based Printmakers and students. It is free to enter the show and it is NOT required to frame your work… But the Deadline for entry is tomorrow – November 12th. To enter all you need to do is email them a JPEG at 72dpi/1mb and then they will contact you if you are accepted for the show which opens on Nov. 21st.

Check out the specifics at Ink Lounge Gallery which is down in Lakewood at the Lab At Belmar. Hopefully its not to late for some of us to enter some work into the show since it is so easy to submit!

Print Show juried by Bud Shark – Drop off this Sunday and Monday

!!Meet at the Printmaking Studio at 10:30-10:45am on Sunday!!

So this Sunday and Monday are the dropoff periods for entering the print specific show at the Spark Gallery. The show will be juried by Bud Shark, who is a significant figure within the printmaking world working with major artists and helping sponsor people like Drive By Press. This is a very cool opportunity to be in a serious local show! So…

This Sunday we are going to caravan, or carpool, down to Denver in the morning and check out the Denver Art Museum while we are there which will open at noon. Some of us have passes and would be happy to help others get in but tickets do cost $8 for Students.

I will drive but we may need some other people to drive too depending on how many people show up… So please comment and let us know if you would be able to help out. If you just want to come to go to the Museum or don’t want to go to the Museum but want to drop off your work you are more than welcome to come but you’ll have to entertain yourself in the mean time.

Anyway, if you’re going to enter the show make sure you check out the specifics on what is required for entry from the Spark Gallery. We’ll probably hit the Museum at noon and then Spark at 3pm (we must be there before 4pm) and fit lunch somewhere in between. Any questions – Leave comments or email (peopleofprint@gmail.com) us and we’ll get right back to you!

!!Meet at the Printmaking Studio at 10:30-10:45am on Sunday!!
